	Windsor Continuous Arm Chair (Previous | Next)   The Continuous Arm Chair is the most fluid, beautiful and innovative of all Windsors. First built in New York around 1775 it gave that state's chair makers a way to surpass their Philadelphia counterparts for the first time. The back of this remarkable chair is made from a single piece of wood, steam bent in two directions to produce a sinuous compound curve that serves as both arm and back rests. This Windsor, with its graceful curve, deeply carved shield seat and canted legs was a bold, new form and it pushed Windsor chair makers to new heights.
